Shaista Azad, J.D.

is a co-founder of the MSN and is an attorney living in Garden Grove. She has appeared as a guest speaker in schools, churches, and universities for over 15 years. She also trains and certifies new speakers for MSN, and develops new content. She is married with three children and loves detective fiction. She also loves her two kittens, even when they shred the furniture.

Farhan Simjee

Farhan Simjee

is a co-founder of the MSN and an electrical engineering graduate of UC Irvine, and is currently a Hardware Engineer at Virgin Galactic. He has been speaking in public schools for more than ten years. He trains and certifies new speakers for MSN and develops new content. In his free time, he enjoys reading, playing tennis, and snowboarding.

Duaa Alwan

Duaa Alwan

is a co-founder of MSN; developing content and training speakers. She presents to schools and universities pertaining to American Muslims, diversity, and religious understanding. Holding an M.A. in Film Critical Studies from Chapman University she is a consultant and educator on the representation of the “Other” in Film & Television. She serves on the board of the Shura Council of Southern California and the Islamic Society of Orange County. She is currently an MSN representative on LAUSD Commission on Diversity and Equity.

Cahide Sen

Cahide Sen

is a Software Engineer and lives in South Orange County. She is passionate about contributing and inspiring effective change towards a sustainable lifestyle locally and globally. She lovingly cherishes her two cats. In her free time she likes to read about neuroscience and psychology.

Hussein Sakr

Hussein Sakr

is a Security Engineer living in the Inland Empire. He is married with three daughters who keep him quiet busy. He has spoken to youth throughout Southern California for over 25 years. He enjoys swimming with his daughters at their local pool hall and also volunteers as a chess coach.

Jeelanne Khattab

Jeelanne Khattab

Jeelanne is a certified speaker for the Muslim Speaker Network. She currently serves as the assistant principal of Shareef Academy and is also is the marketing director for Chino Valley Islamic Center. Jeelanne received her Civil Engineering degree from Alexandria University, Egypt and holds a California Multiple Subject and Special Education credentials from Chapman University. Jeelanne lives in Rancho Cucamonga with her husband, three boys and her cat Frank. Jeelanne enjoy water sports and Afghan food.

is originally from Mexico; she is married with four children and calls Garden Grove her home. She is an active community volunteer through various Orange County based organizations. She loves to travel, read, and play sports. She is also a huge car enthusiast.

Mutia 'Tia' Faisal

Mutia 'Tia' Faisal

was previously an engineer for Motorola of nine years. She is married with two daughters and two cats and has called Rancho Cucamonga her home for over 15 years. She is currently an editor for a non-profit organization and a booster parent for her daughters marching band. She also loves yoga, Zumba, and golf.

is an Entrepreneur living in Encino. She is married with two children and has appeared as a guest speaker in her daughter’s school for the last eight years. She has a passion for inspiring positive social change in her locale through community empowerment. She loves to spend quality time with her family and loves to travel.

Tahir Aziz, PhD.

Tahir Aziz, PhD.

is a Professor at Long Beach City College. He specializes in Computer Science & Information Technology and has taught to over 10,000 students. He has given presentations in public schools, colleges, universities, and conferences to all ages. In his free time he loves scuba diving, skiing, skydiving, and hiking.

Yaman Kahf

Yaman Kahf

grew up in the Midwestern state of Indiana, completed high school and college in New Jersey, and later moved to Orange County, California where he now lives with his wife and three children. He volunteers as a youth mentor and career counselor. He enjoys bike riding, cooking, gardening, and caring for animals. His pets include rabbits, chickens, ducks, a parrot, frogs, turtles, and possibly the world’s longest surviving goldfish.

 

Raihana Ali

Raihana Ali

is a native Californian. She lives in Hawthorne and works as Health Educator. During non-working hours, she attends El Camino College to work towards a second career in nursing.  She is passionate about nutrition and wellness and she is driven to inspire others to take better care of their health. In her free time, she enjoys cycling, Muay Thai, photography, volunteering, reading, and cooking.
